Fall is fast approaching and we're excited to get our menus in order!
What kinds of dishes would you like to see come out of the Birker Kitchen? Let us know on our social media pages.
We thought we were prepared... we were not. But, as with everything we do, we had the best of intentions and gave it our all. Family obligations prevented us from preparing more ahead of time
From the handwritten signs on sheet pan liners taped to the fence, to the banner we constructed out of found materials at midnight, we adjusted everything as we went. (Shoutout to our neighboring vendor (who shall not be named) who resorted to petty business tactics in order to stifle our blooming business.)
We had repeat customers who enjoyed our food for lunch on Thursday and came back for dinner, and then again the next day, and the next.
We didn't get the delivery system for vendors set up in time, and didn't advertise to the vendors enough.
Using Square for every transaction to track inventory.
We thought we were also going to have a pop-up dinner for friends and family on Saturday night lolololol. By the time art fair was half over, we were exhausted. There's no way we could have done both.
We learned so much. From customers to vendors, everyone was willing to share what they thought would help us do better business in the future. There are so many things to work on over the next year.
People are interested in pre-ordering meals for pickup during the school year.
People are interested in picking up a healthy meal on their way home for a good price.
Having ice cold bottled water really makes a difference on a hot day.
We made a pretty decent profit!
Remember for next year... we have the closest art fair parking, as well as the best food for the best prices.
